Name origin: Slatiňany – Chateau full of stories, inventions and horses! Originally a Renaissance chateau built on the site of a medieval fortress, it acquired its present form in the 19th century, when it served as the summer residence of the princely family of Auersperg. The castle interiors, which include richly furnished salons, as well as a functional kitchen, boiler room, and ice house, have recently been restored to their original appearance as seen in historical photographs. The castle garden, with its many rare trees and flowers, and the so-called children's farm, a unique collection of log cabins designed for the upbringing and education of aristocratic children, have also been restored.
