Name origin: The ruins of Obřany Castle are located northeast of Brno, in the cadastral territory of Kanice. The castle dates back to the 13th century and is famous for the robber knight Gerhard of Zbraslav. In the 14th century, the castle was captured and burned by the citizens of Brno. Today, two marked hiking trails, both blue, lead to the ruins – from Bílovice nad Svitavou and from the Šumbera crossroads.
